MONDAY 21 APRIL:
The OPEN CULTURAL DAY will host various activites for all the familly, from Carnival Mask Making to dance and music workshops…
Learn to hit those SAMBA DRUMS or try your hand at CAPOEIRA. Monday will kick off a week of FREE workshops for all ages, come and celebrate with us…

TUESDAY 22 APRIL:
BRAZILIAN DANCE with Mestre Boa Gente. All the way from Salvador, Bahia and as seen in Michael Palin’s ‘Brazil’ Documentary, Mestre Boa Gente lives and breaths the culture of his country. He well be giving workshops in traditional Brazilian Dance from Salvador.

WEDNESDAY 23 APRIL:
BRAZILIAN PERCUSSION with Mestre Biscum & Professora SIninha. BrazilArte’s two founders will be giving classes in Brazilian Percussion including rhythms; SAMBA & SAMBA REGGAE. Learn to play like the recent street carnivals in Brazil.

THURSDAY 24 APRIL:
KIDS MACULELE & COCO DANCE with Mestre Biscum & Professora SIninha. BrazilArte’s two founders will be giving classes in Maculele a traditional stick fighting dance from the Afro Brazilian culture, an exciting dance to live tribal drum rhythms. Plus Danca do Coco, a traditional dance from the north east of Brazil. A simple but all highly expressive dance done in groups and pairs.

FRIDAY 25 APRIL:
CAPOEIRA is a beautiful art which combines martial art kicks with fluid dance like movements and acrobatics. It is combined with live percussive music. It is a beautiful specticle to watch and even more exciting to do! This class is a Beginners introduction for all ages from 5 years to 60+. Come and try and surprise yourself!

SATURDAY 26 APRIL:
A day of workshops, £15 for the day. Workshops in Capoeira, Dance and music
TIME: 1100 – 1700 ALL AGES, ALL LEVELS

CARNIVAL PARTY doors open 1800 till midnight
VENUE: The Esplanade, Western Esplande, Southend, SS1 1EE
Live music, live performance and cultural show, dance and DJ
We will be serving traditional brazilian food from 1830 while it lasts.
PRICE: FREE (Donation entry) Families welcome

SUNDAY 27 APRIL:
BrazilArte day of Brazilian Culture. We will meet at 1000 @ Victoria Circus, everyone is invited to play drums with us, bring instruments or improvise. From 1100 we will start our carnival parade down Southend High Street, finishing at the top of Pier Hill. Weather depending we will continue some of the event in this space and at The Royal Hotel, we will also host a Cultural Makers Market, featuring handmade products from local artists. There will be live performances from our special guests and a chance to get involved!
