Sat 3 Nov – THE BOOK ARTS FAIR @ HOFS

Home  /  art  /  Sat 3 Nov - THE BOOK ARTS FAIR @ HOFS

Haidleigh Old Fire Station is hosting their first Books Art Fair this Saturday.

This one day event will present works by 24 artists presenting, discussing and selling their ‘artists books’, which might be one-off works, limited editions or art books. The selection will demonstrate a rich and varied response to working with art and the book as each artist has a unique perspective in understanding this medium. The event will offer the visitor much to think about – from the craft of a traditional hand bound book/journal, to the book as a sculptural object.

The idea was also to allow the artists to meet each other and form a network within the South East area. Participants will be attending from London, Essex and Suffolk.

The Appliance Hall offers a light and airy venue where the visitor may well be surprised to find a variety of interpretations to the idea of book arts, and will appeal to anyone interested in, and curious, about art and/or books.

The Fair is organised by artists Chris Ruston and Jane Woollatt who both have a studio space at the newly renovated Hadleigh Old Fire Station, and have worked collaboratively for the past ten years. Having to reduce their studio space led them to think about a smaller scale artwork, and combined with their passion for books, the idea came about to organise the Fair.

Open between 10am-5pm.
