‘Creekside’ (working title) is a photography project about the people, places and objects around Creekside in Deptford, London SE8. The project investigates the remaining traces of Creekside’s rich cultural, social and industrial history at a time of rapid transformation.
‘Creekside’ will be a photography book with text, combining portraits of the people who live, work or pass through the place with photographs of objects found in Deptford Creek, interiors of buildings, the changing urban skyline, abstract surfaces and archive photographs. By casting an archaeological and ethnographic eye on Creekside, the project hopes to reveal a densely textured palimpsest of history, memory, community, transience and transformation.
One or more writers are required to produce one or a series of short texts responding to the ideas explored in the photographic work. The writings will accompany other texts including extracts from interviews, novels and poetry and archive news reports.
