Focal Point Gallery are looking for a Cultural Destinations Project Manager

This is a fixed term contract until March 2017.
£28,746 – £34,746 per annum

The Cultural Destinations programme aims to enable arts and cultural organisations to work in partnership with Destination Management Organisations to increase their reach, engagement and resilience by building stronger links with the tourism sector.

The Arts and Cultural sector contributes significantly to England’s visitor economy, with arts and culture accounting for at least £856 million per annum of spending by tourists visiting the UK.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful management and delivery of the Project in Essex, which aims to bring together the arts and tourism sectors to raise the role of culture in the county’s visitor economy. This is an Arts Council England and Visit England project, run by partners Focal Point Gallery [lead organisation], Visit Essex and firstsite.

This role will be responsible for leading, planning, managing and evaluating all stages of the project. Communication across, and working with, project partners will be crucial, as will a certain level of travel between the three key organisations. The ability to manage budgets and effectively report progress is necessary.

Main purpose of the role:

• Create, implement and evaluate a programme of activity, informed from the initial research stages of the project. This will entail working with partners on the design and development of a programme of events, printed matter and digital platforms.

• Responsible for the project budget and overseeing of contracts and tenders, Lead and coordinate the project’s workstream and its accompanying steering group meetings.

• Maintain relationships with pre-existing project partners, and support the establishment of new strategic working affiliations from the regions’ cultural and tourism sectors.

This is a full time role which requires qualifications or experience within the cultural and tourism sectors, and a passion for both. Occasional evening and weekend work may be expected.
