Belle et la Beat @ The Old Waterworks
WHAT A LINE-UP!!
CHEAP JOINT – Rhythm and Bluegrass duo incorporating banjos & resonator guitars, harmonica, spoons, jug, bass drum & jaws harp!!
THE PLAN – great local band with driving beats and beautiful harmonies! We love this lot, original, quirky and glorious.
Dr ZOD – a debut from this new collaboration of musicians from local bands including the likes of Platypus and Dirty Fairies. I was treated to a tiny preview of new recordings and it sounded beautiful – ambient and swoony. LUSH!
THE MUDLARKS CAFE CHOIR – these guys have performed for us before, expect British/Celtic folk and songs from Africa, Georgia, Greece, Spain as well as original arrangements of classic soul and pop. Divine.
THE WATERFALLS – brand shiny new young band taking their inspiration from The Smiths and The Stone Roses. I have been lucky enough to see their first and second performances and I’m really excited about seeing them play in the screening room, perfect venue for them. Catchy tunes and impeccable musicianship.
DARK GLOBES – Indie Shoegazers who always hit the spot – influences include Teenage Fanclub, Robyn Hitchcock, Yo La Tenga, Dinosaur Jr and Pavement. So just about everything we love. *passes out from sheer joy.
SIMON BLACKMAN – poet and general hilarious fella.
There’s also our resident vegan chocolatier Sara and the Chocolate Factory and Earthzest Organics. Art materials for the children and food and drink available. Arrive early – the fun starts immediately!
