THE KING AND I @ Palace Theatre
THE KING AND I
PRESENTED BY THE PALACE THEATRE CINEMA
Palace Theatre, Southend-on-Sea
Sun 20 Sep
English widow Anna Leonowens and her young son travel to Siam to teach the young children of the arrogant, headstrong King, who wishes to learn Western culture.
The proud King is behind the times and considered a “barbarian” by the English, and his personality – fiercely chauvinistic, arrogant, and unfamiliar with challenges to his supreme rule, conflicts with the progressive and strong will of Anna, who is unafraid of him.
Featuring Getting To Know You and Shall We Dance, the film is based on the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical of the same title.
This film screening is a dementia friendly event and although is not exclusively for people with dementia, it is particularly suitable for people affected by dementia, their partners, family members and people who care for them professionally. Everyone is welcome but please be aware that there may be people talking during the film, moving around and leaving the cinema.
