The Forum Space will come to life from Tuesday 1st December with an acrylic, pencil, watercolour and gouache exhibition. The exhibition will feature spectacular children’s Illustration, narrative and landscapes from three talented artists; Amy Adele, Sarah Crofts and Daniel Barry.
Pop along to experience and enjoy the range of artistic talents that lie within the library. Framed and unframed prints of exhibited artwork will be available to purchase.
About the artists:
Daniel Barry originally studied fashion design, earning his degree from Central St. Martins, then moved quite naturally towards painting and illustrating – finding these fields more fulfilling. Daniel gained an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Anglia Ruskin. Alongside illustration Daniel continues to paint in the fine art tradition, and has exhibited locally and in London galleries. Daniel takes inspiration to improve from artists of great technical ability, but moreover admires works informed by emotional wisdom.
Amy Adele has drawn from a very young age and earned a degree in Illustration from University of the Creative Arts, following on to earn a Masters in Illustration: Authorial Practice from Falmouth University. Since then she has been working as a Children’s Illustrator and is represented by Good Illustration Agency. Amy loves to work traditionally and her main tools of the trade are watercolour, gouache, pencil, ink – anything that gives the right texture or feel to a piece.
Amy is largely inspired by nature, long muddy walks and designing the tiny details of a characters clothes or cosy home.
Sarah Crofts is a self-taught artist and specialises in local scenes and nature. For the past few years her greeting cards of the local area have been featured in Southend Libraries & Museums shops. Sarah predominantly works in acrylic on canvas, but also enjoys using pencil and watercolour.
“I hope visitors will enjoy looking at my work and perhaps be interested in learning more about the stories/folk tales I have illustrated.”
